The Center recently named its financial assistance program after Jeff Melish in recognition of his sixteen years of service on the Jonnycake Center’s board and his lifelong commitment to helping South County residents meet their most basic needs. The Fund currently provides assistance for housing, utilities, transportation, and other basic needs such as health care, childcare, and clothing. In 2016, Jeff strongly supported a recommendation to establish a financial assistance program at the Center. Jeff was a local civil rights attorney and social justice advocate who died tragically in a car crash in July of 2021.
