Healthy Harvest
This seasonal program offers members weekly produce pick-ups from summer through fall. We are grateful to the local farmers and gardeners for their donations, including URI’s Agronomy Department, URI Master Gardeners/East Farm, Jamestown Community Garden, Earth Care Farm, Farmer’s Daughter, and so many local residents who routinely drop items straight from their garden.
Block Island Bound
The Jonnycake Center joined forces with the Helping Hands food pantry at the Harbor Church on Block Island during three separate trips in April and May. Together, we served over 200 Islanders each trip, distributing approximately 5,000 pounds of food each time.
Financial Assistance
The Jonnycake Center is fortunate to receive grant funds to provide financial assistance to its members. Funds can be used to prevent eviction, homelessness, and/or secure new housing; prevent a utility shut-off; and/or provide transportation assistance. Cereal and Snacks Needed
Donations of cereal and snacks are what is most needed to support our school vacation meals program. These two items can be expensive and difficult to purchase in bulk. Our community has been outstanding in dropping off donations during our normal business hours at the Jonnycake Market.
